Search for house cleaning in Huntsville and The Cleaning Authority's Madison office shows up near the top of the page, usually a few results away from ours. So people compare us. This is that comparison, written by us, with every fact about them dated to the day we read it. A franchise can rewrite a page overnight, and you should know how fresh the information is.
It is not a hit piece. The Cleaning Authority is a national franchise with a real system, a real guarantee and a 4.8 Google rating the last time we checked. Some readers should book them. The rest of this page is meant to tell you which reader you are.
One thing before the table. We are not the cheapest cleaning company in Huntsville, and neither are they. If your only question is the lowest price per hour, the answer is a solo cleaner from a Facebook group, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
The short version
Choose The Cleaning Authority if: you want a national brand with a named system that folds detail work into your recurring visits on a rotation, environmentally responsible products as a core promise rather than an option, and a quote you can request online without talking to anyone. Or if one vendor relationship for the whole property appeals: their sister brands in the Authority Brands family cover mosquitoes, lawns and pet waste.
Choose The Valley Clean Team if: you want the exact price for your home on one call, with the number we quote being the number we bill, the full 44-item list and every fee published before you book, a deep clean you schedule when the house needs it rather than on a rotation, and owners who answer the phone. Or you live in the Shoals, Mountain Brook or Nashville, where their Huntsville office is not local.

Where The Cleaning Authority wins
We would rather you hear these from us than discover them after you have booked us.
1. A system with a name, and it is a real one
The Detail-Clean Rotation System is the closest thing to a published method among the Huntsville franchises. Their page shows four zones (bathrooms, kitchens, living areas, sleeping areas) and says each is deep-cleaned on a rotating basis. In plain terms: every recurring visit is a maintenance clean plus a detail pass on one part of the house, and the detail pass moves around.
If you have ever paid for a recurring clean and wondered when anyone last touched the baseboards, a rotation answers that question on a schedule. That is a genuine advantage of their model. Our maintenance list does not cover everything every time, and we would rather say so than pretend it does. We price detail work separately, and you can read exactly what that buys you further down.
2. A quote without a phone call
Some people would rather type than talk. Their page promises an immediate quote online, and it offers a free estimate if you want one. We do not offer an instant online number, on purpose: our price comes from a 25-bracket square-footage table, and the fastest way to land in the right bracket is a two-minute call. We do have a written quote form, answered within 2 business hours, but it is not instant. If typing wins for you, they win this row.
3. Franchise infrastructure, and a family of brands
A national franchise brings scheduling systems, hiring pipelines, backup staffing when a cleaner is out, and a chain of escalation above the local office. The Cleaning Authority also sits inside Authority Brands, so the same company family can handle the mosquitoes, the lawn and the dog's business in the yard. We are a family business that cleans houses. If the safety net of a national system is what lets you hand over a key, that is a legitimate reason to pick them.
4. Green products as the default
Environmentally responsible products are a core promise on their page. With us, green products are available on request at no extra charge, and we hold no third-party certification for them, which we say plainly rather than borrowing a badge. If you want eco products without having to ask, they lead here.
Where The Valley Clean Team wins
1. The number, on one call, and it holds
Call 256-826-1100 during business hours. Tell us the square footage, the bedroom count and the bathroom count. Whoever answers reads the same rate table, so the price does not depend on who picked up, and you hang up with a flat number for your house. Not a range, not "starting at", and nobody comes out to look first.
That number is the number on your bill. It moves in exactly two cases: you add scope after the quote, or the home was described differently than it is (square footage, bedrooms, baths, pets). The condition we find on arrival is not a reason to change it. An online estimate, from anyone, is a starting point until a person confirms the house. Ask any company whether the quote is the number you will be billed, and listen for the pause.
2. The list is published, and so are the fees
Our 44-item checklist is on the site, room by room, next to the 57-item deep clean and the 50-item move-in/out list. So are the things that cost money: 24 hours' notice to cancel, a $100 fee for a late cancellation, no-show or lock-out, $25 per pet, and a $5–$15 travel fee where it applies.
The doorstep upsell is the fear behind most bad cleaning-company reviews: the number grows once someone is standing in your kitchen. The cure is a task list and a fee schedule you can read before anyone parks in your driveway. Their Huntsville page has neither, which does not mean they upsell. It means you have to ask.
3. Deep cleaning when you decide, not when the rotation says
A deep clean with us is 57 items and starts at $276. It adds the work a maintenance visit skips: cobwebs, door frames, reachable ceiling fans and vents, glass surfaces, hand-detailed baseboards and wet-wiped blinds. Most customers book one as a first visit, then drop to the 44-item recurring clean, and book another before the holidays or after a renovation. You pay for the detail work when the house needs it, not by calendar.
4. The owners answer
Text or call and Todd or Christen reads it. A text gets an answer in minutes during business hours; a written quote request is answered within 2 business hours. If a cleaner is running late or something got broken, the person you reach can fix it without escalating to anyone.
The trade-off is real and we will name it: we keep business hours, our team is small, and we usually book 2 to 3 days out. There is no national call center behind us.
5. Coverage beyond the Huntsville office
Their Huntsville page's list runs from Ardmore to Valhermoso Springs. We cover that core too, plus Decatur, the Shoals, Mountain Brook and Birmingham, and Nashville. That is a geographic fact, not a quality argument, but it settles the question for a lot of readers.
Rotation, or the same list every visit: what you are actually buying
This is the one real difference in how the two companies clean, so it is worth understanding before you pick.
With a rotation, each recurring visit is a routine clean plus a detail pass on one zone. Their page shows four zones. If one zone gets the detail pass per visit, a biweekly customer sees each zone detailed about every eight weeks, and a monthly customer about every four months. The page does not state the cadence, so that is an inference. Ask them how many visits a full rotation takes, and whether a first visit gets special treatment.
With us, every visit is the same 44 items: all rooms, the kitchen, the bathrooms, the bedrooms, laundry, dining and living areas, and the office. What is on the list is on the list every time, and what is not on it (inside the oven, inside the refrigerator, interior cabinets, the deep-clean detail work) is a deep clean or an add-on you choose. The result does not depend on who is on the crew that day, because the crew is working the same sheet.
Neither model is wrong. A rotation is better if you never want to think about detail work again and you are fine with it arriving on their schedule. A fixed list plus a deep clean you book yourself is better if you want every visit to be predictable and you would rather pay for detail work when the house calls for it.
When to pick which
Recurring biweekly in Madison or Huntsville, 2,000 to 2,500 square feet
Both will serve you well. Decide on the model above, then get both numbers for the same frequency and compare. Ours is on the call; theirs is through the online quote.
You want green products, no discussion
They lead. Ours are on request, and we will not pretend we hold a certification we do not.
A house that has been let go, and you want it back under control
We would start you on the 57-item deep clean, then move you to recurring service. Ask them how the rotation handles a first visit on a home that needs the whole thing detailed at once.
Move-out, including a PCS from Redstone
Our move-in/out clean is 50 items from $351, and the list is published so you can hold it up against the inspection sheet. They offer move-in/out cleaning too. Whoever you pick, get what is included in writing before the walkthrough.
You are in Athens or Decatur
Athens: both of us. Decatur: their Huntsville page does not list it; we serve it.
You are in the Shoals, Mountain Brook or Nashville
Their Huntsville office's list stops at Ardmore and Valhermoso Springs. We are local in the Shoals and Mountain Brook. The Cleaning Authority has a separate Nashville franchise, and we compare that one on its own page.
How to get started with either
The Cleaning Authority (Huntsville): call (256) 850-4580 or use the quote form at thecleaningauthority.com/huntsville.
The Valley Clean Team: call 256-826-1100 with your square footage and bed and bath count and you will hang up with the price. Prefer to write? Send the details and you will have a written quote within 2 business hours.
Either way you end up with an insured, professional clean. We just want you to choose on accurate information, dated, rather than on whichever page shouts loudest.
